What is ad click rate?

Ad click rate measures the percentage of ad impressions on your website that result in a user clicking the ad. It shows how often users engage with on-site advertisements.

How is it measured?

Each time an ad is shown to a user, it counts as an impression. If a user clicks the ad, it’s counted as a click. The ad click rate is calculated as: (ad clicks ÷ ad impressions) × 100. For example, if an ad is shown 1,000 times and clicked 40 times, the click rate is 4%.

Why it matters?

A high ad click rate indicates that your ads are well-placed, visually compelling, and relevant to the audience. A low rate could signal banner blindness, poor creative design, irrelevant targeting, or even performance issues - like delayed ad rendering that causes users to scroll past before seeing it. Optimizing this metric can improve ad revenue, user experience, and partner satisfaction.
