Engagement metrics help you understand how visitors interact with your site beyond just loading it. These signals reveal how effectively your content captures attention, encourages interaction, and keep users involved.
What is abandoned carts rate?
Abandoned carts rate measures the percentage of shopping carts that contain items but never make it to the checkout process. It highlights how often users show intent to buy but drop off before completing their purchase journey.
How is it measured?
We track every time a cart is created - i.e., when a user adds an item to their cart. If that session doesn’t progress to the checkout step, the cart is considered abandoned. The abandoned carts rate is calculated as: (abandoned carts ÷ total carts created) × 100.
Why it matters?
A high abandonment rate can signal pricing concerns, unexpected shipping costs, poor UX, or trust issues at a critical decision point. It may also reflect performance problems like slow-loading cart pages, errors, or bugs that break the purchase flow. Monitoring this metric helps you identify friction in your funnel and take action - like streamlining checkout, surfacing key info earlier, or improving performance to keep buyers from dropping off.
