What is INP by checkpoint
INP by checkpoint lens breaks down your Interaction to Next Paint (INP) by key user journey events, called checkpoints. These checkpoints represent critical stages like landing, product, cart, or checkout — and are auto-generated by Uxify for each site (but can be customized in Settings).
INP measures how fast your site responds to user interactions like clicks or taps. Poor responsiveness at key checkpoints can directly impact user satisfaction and conversion.
Healthy INP by checkpoint sample
Should you worry
A healthy INP by checkpoint view shows all green — meaning your site is responsive at each step of the user journey.
Even if some checkpoints are slightly faster than others, as long as they’re green, you’re in good shape. The more consistently green your INP across checkpoints, the smoother your experience feels to users.
Unhealthy INP by checkpoint sample
If you see yellow or red on specific checkpoints — like Product or Cart — it’s a strong sign that interaction delays are affecting your most important pages.
Common causes include:
Heavy JavaScript blocking button clicks.
Slow event handling on modals, tabs, or custom UI components.
Personalization scripts delaying interactivity for logged-in users.
When INP is high at key moments, users may get frustrated just when they're ready to take action — hurting both engagement and revenue.
Resolving unhealthy INP by checkpoint
Go-to action plan to resolve an unhealthy INP by checkpoint:
Ask Uxi to analyze your INP by checkpoint values and suggest improvements.
Use Filters to isolate the worst-performing checkpoints and traffic segments.
Simulate INP of the suspected lens to see if fixing it will resolve the INP by checkpoint. If yes, this is where the resolution focus should be.
Use an automated INP optimization tool like INProve to improve your INP by checkpoint values.
Once you’ve improved INP, set an alert to be the first to know if it starts worsening again.
