What is INP by device
INP by device shows the Interaction to Next Paint (INP) value across different device types (e.g., Mobile or Desktop). This lens helps you identify which devices deliver a slower or less responsive experience for your users.
The list shows only device types that generated traffic to your website during the selected period.
Common reasons for slower INP on certain devices include older or less powerful hardware, heavy background processes, or network delays that affect responsiveness.
INP is a Core Web Vital that measures how quickly your site responds to user input like clicks, taps, or keyboard actions.
Healthy INP by device sample
Should you worry
A healthy INP by device lens looks all green. Some devices may be greener than others, but as long as there's no yellow or red, it’s considered healthy. The greener the device, the more responsive and smooth the experience.
Unhealthy INP by device sample
In the example below, INP by device shows that Mobile and Tablet are both the slower device type compared to Desktop. This often results in higher bounce rates, more exits, and lower conversions on those devices.
Resolving unhealthy INP by device
Go-to action plan to resolve an unhealthy INP by device:
Ask Uxi to analyze your INP by device values and suggest improvements.
Use Filters to focus on the slow device in your INP by device, then check the other INP lenses to find where interaction delays are highest with the most pageviews.
Simulate INP of the suspected lens to see if fixing it will resolve the INP by device. If yes, this is where the resolution focus should be.
Use an automated INP optimization tool like INProve to improve your INP by device values.
Once you’ve improved INP, set an alert to be the first to know if it starts worsening again.
