Checkpoints

By monitoring specific user actions or page visits, checkpoints allow you to gain deeper insights into your user's behavior and identify opportunities for improvement.

Predefined Checkpoints

For Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento stores, Squarespace, Wix and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Uxify offers predefined checkpoints tailored to common user journeys, such as:

  • Home – Navigating through the homepage

  • Collection – Browsing category or catalog pages

  • Product – Viewing product detail pages

  • Account – Accessing account-related pages like Login, Register, or Account Management

  • Blog – Exploring the blog landing page

  • Blog post – Reading individual blog articles

  • Page – Visiting static pages such as “Contact Us” or “About Us”

  • Search – Interacting with the search bar

  • Cart – Reaching the cart (pre-conversion intent)

  • Checkout – Entering the checkout process (conversion point)

These predefined checkpoints are automatically available, saving you setup time and ensuring essential touchpoints are tracked. You can also add your own custom checkpoints to further customize the analysis.

Custom Checkpoints for All Platforms

For other platforms predefined checkpoints are not yet available. However, you can manually create your own custom checkpoints to suit your website’s unique structure.

How to Add a Custom Checkpoint

To add a custom checkpoint, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Add checkpoint"

  2. Fill in the Checkpoint Name
    Enter a name that describes the user action or event you want to track (e.g., “Clicked Signup Button” or “Visited Blog Page”).

  3. Add a Trigger
    Select the type of trigger:

    • Page visit trigger: Activates the checkpoint when a user visits a specific page.

    • Click trigger: Activates the checkpoint when a user clicks on a specific button or element.

    • Ads trigger: Activates the checkpoint when a user clicks on a specific Ad-containing element.

  4. Configure the Condition
    Define the condition that will activate the trigger. For example:

    • Specify the URL for a page visit trigger.
      or/and

    • Identify the element for a click trigger using a CSS selector or unique identifier.

  5. Save
    Save your custom checkpoint. It will now appear in your list of checkpoints and start tracking the defined user actions or events.

Configuring a checkpoint as Product view, Pre-conversion, or Conversion

After adding a checkpoint, whether predefined or custom, you can further configure it to define its role in the user journey.

  • Product view step: Use this for checkpoints tied specifically to product pages. This flag helps you track when users view product details, providing more granular insights into their browsing behavior before they move toward conversion.

  • Pre-conversion step: Use this for checkpoints that represent user actions leading up to a conversion but not directly related to product views. For example, adding an item to the cart or initiating checkout.

  • Conversion step: Use this for checkpoints that represent the final desired user action, such as completing a purchase or signing up.

To configure a checkpoint:

  1. Locate the checkpoint in your list.

  2. Click the ⋯ (three dots menu) next to the checkpoint.

  3. Select whether the checkpoint is a Product view, Pre-conversion, or Conversion point.

  4. Save your changes.

By organizing checkpoints into product view, pre-conversion, and conversion steps, Uxify can provide clearer, more detailed insights into user behavior and drop-offs - helping you optimize every stage of the customer journey more effectively.
