What is CLS by country
CLS by country shows Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) for the countries your visitors are coming from. This lens helps you identify which regions experience more visual instability during page load — allowing you to target improvements that reduce frustration and improve perception of quality.
The list includes only countries with traffic during the selected period and device type. If no traffic was recorded from a country, it won’t appear.
Visual instability can vary by region due to factors like slower internet speeds, weaker devices, third-party script behavior, or delayed asset delivery.
By default, the widget shows the top countries by traffic. Maximize the lens to explore the full list.
Healthy CLS by country sample
In a healthy view, CLS across countries is all green — showing that users in different regions experience visually stable pages.
Some countries may perform slightly better than others, but as long as no country appears in yellow or red, your international experience is stable.
Unhealthy CLS by country sample
In the example below, Bulgaria and United Kingdom show the most unhealthy CLS values
This kind of regional layout shift could be caused by:
Late-loading fonts that affect layout in certain language settings.
Ads, consent banners, or widgets that behave differently based on region.
Missing image dimension attributes or script delays on slower networks.
Unstable layouts in high-traffic countries often lead to lower engagement, higher bounce rates, and poorer user satisfaction.
Resolving unhealthy CLS by country
Go-to action plan to resolve an unhealthy CLS by country:
Ask Uxi to analyze your CLS by country values and suggest improvements
Use Filters to drill into the slow-performing region and correlate it with other CLS lenses (e.g., device, third party, cookie name).
Simulate CLS of the suspected lens to see if fixing it will resolve the CLS by country. If yes, this is where the resolution focus should be.
Use an automated CLS optimization tool like Navigation AI to improve your CLS by country values
Once you’ve improved CLS, set an alert to be the first to know if it starts worsening again.
