Tab refocus brings distracted visitors back by animating the tab title and favicon when your site is in the background.

Tab refocus is a Navigation AI subfeature that helps recover distracted visitors by making your site tab visually stand out when it is no longer active. When users switch to another tab, Uxify animates the tab title and favicon, making it easier for them to notice and return to your site.

This gentle visual cue helps re-engage users who may have been interrupted or temporarily distracted.

How it works

Tab refocus detects when your website moves to the background and responds by animating elements of the browser tab.

This includes:

  • Adding an animated emoji, such as a fire icon, next to the favicon

  • Temporarily updating or animating the tab title

  • Creating a subtle visual change that draws attention

These changes make the tab more noticeable among multiple open tabs.

When the user returns to your site, the tab automatically returns to its original title and favicon.

When Tab refocus activates

Tab refocus activates when:

  • The user opens your site in a browser tab

  • The user switches to a different tab or application

  • Your site remains open in the background

It automatically stops when the user returns to your site.

It does not activate when the site is already in focus.

Why Tab refocus matters

Users often open multiple tabs and get distracted before completing important actions. Tab refocus helps bring them back at the right moment.

Key benefits include:

  • Recover distracted visitors

  • Increase session continuation

  • Improve conversion completion rates

  • Reduce lost opportunities due to attention shifts

This is especially valuable during critical moments such as browsing products, viewing pricing, or completing checkout.

User experience and behavior

Tab refocus is designed to be helpful without being intrusive:

  • Uses subtle animation rather than disruptive popups

  • Does not interrupt user activity

  • Respects user focus and intent

  • Automatically restores the original tab state when refocused

This ensures a smooth and respectful experience.
