What is TTFB by UTM Campaign

TTFB by UTM Campaign shows the Time to First Byte (TTFB) across different UTM campaigns (e.g., promotion_easter_start). This lens helps you identify which campaigns are associated with slower server responses.

Only UTM campaigns that brought traffic during the selected period are included. Campaigns with no traffic during that time won’t appear.

TTFB measures the time between a user's request and the first byte of your site being received. High TTFB often means backend slowness, geographic latency, or CDN/cache misconfigurations.

Should you worry

A healthy TTFB by UTM campaign lens is all green. Some campaigns may be slightly slower than others, but unless you're seeing yellow or red, things are generally fine. The greener the campaign, the quicker the initial load starts.

Unhealthy TTFB by UTM Campaign sample

In the example below, TTFB by UTM campaign shows that traffic from blog_us_stores_banner has significantly higher TTFB compared to others. This could mean the campaign links to a regionally unoptimized page or skips CDN caching.

Resolving unhealthy TTFB by UTM Campaign

Go-to action plan to resolve an unhealthy TTFB by UTM Campaign:

  1. Ask Uxi to analyze your TTFB by UTM Campaign values and suggest improvements.

  2. Use Filters to isolate that UTM campaign and investigate what pages are being visited.

  3. Simulate TTFB of the suspected lens to see if fixing it will resolve the TTFB by UTM Campaign. If yes, this is where the resolution focus should be.

  4. Use an automated optimization tool like Navigation AI to improve your TTFB by UTM Campaign values.

  5. Once you’ve improved TTFB, set an alert to be the first to know if it starts worsening again.
